A new banner and a new name

I made the decision to change my Etsy store’s name today before I recieved any sales or feedback. When I opened the store I chose the name of my blog but I honestly was never happy with it. Soooo, this morning I took the plunge and chose the new name of Witchetty.

 I think it represents my artwork more accurately and I have given my blog a facelift and new name to bring it inline with my store. I hope you like it

Finally … some art!!

I have been so busy this week that I haven’t had a moment to paint, however I have been creating paintings in my mind. This morning I just had to put a sketch down on paper as this character has been haunting me for weeks.

At the moment it is just a light sketch, but I am so relieved to give her life. Now I just need to find some time to get out my paints and finish her.

Today is my darling husbands birthday so we will be busy spoling him rotten, but hopefully some time over the weekend I will be able to get some painting done. I really need to get back into the routine of painting regularly and build up some inventory for my Etsy store.

Yesterday I had set aside the afternoon for my daughter and myself to finish unpacking the art room. I had to work an extra half an hour so I had organised for a friend to meet my daughter at the school. Her son is in the same class and my friend was coaching basketball at the school anyway. I arrive a half an hour after school got out to find my friend hysterical and the children missing!! It is a 100m walk across the school at most and they just hadn’t shown up. So we drove around the suburb, called friends and finally after an hour my friend phoned the police. I will say that by this stage I was mildly hysterical myself!! I decided to do one last drive around the suburb and managed to find them over at the high school basketball courts, a block away from where they were supposed to be. Turns out to have been a miscommunication between my friend and her son, but it gave me the fright of my life. Today I feeling very grateful that all is well in my world.

I’m Back!!!

Finally we have moved into our new home and I am back online.

 It has been the busiest but most rewarding month of my life. I spent two weeks painting the interior of our new home, then a week of packing and we did the big move about 10 days ago.

Since then I have been busy landscaping our gardens, unpacking, working and cleaning our rental ready to hand back our keys. I hand the keys back tomorrow and then I will only have our new home to concentrate my energies on.

As for creating in the past month (besides a lovely new home for our family), well this is the state of my art room…..

Sorting and unpacking my art supplies is Saturdays job. I am really hoping I will be organised enough to participate in Illustration Friday or Inspire Me Thursday this week. I so miss my art!!

Opened an Etsy Store

I have finally decided to open an Etsy store to sell my artwork.

Due to moving and organising my new house, I won’t have a lot of time on my hands, so I have just put one painting in the store. I would like to eventually have new paintings regularly and prints and cards for sale, but I will not bee working on this until I am in my new house.

Away for a while….

…as our house is due to be finished any day now and my life is filled with manual labour to make the house livible with some packing thrown in for fun. The time has come for my art room to be packed away and this will mean that I won’t have the time or the means to get creative and maintain my blog.

 So I will leave you with a little painting that I finished on the weeked. I is just a fun little painting of a Frog Prince….painted to go with Princess Puss and it will be one of 3 painting created for my daughters play room in our new house.

IMT – Watercolor… IF – Captain

This is another combined Inspire Me Thursday and Illustration Friday artwork.

 This weeks Insire Me Thursday topic is Watercolour. I have been procrastinating about trying water colour, however my colour pencil technique is so bad I really needed to have a try at an alternative. I think watercolour will be the way I go from now on with my little illustrations, which I have so much fun creating.
