This week I am short for time, so decided to combine this weeks IF and IMT contributions into one piece. Illustration Friday is Missing, and Inspire Me Thursday is Dear Diary.
This started as a quick pencil drawing, then I added some pen, didn’t like the effect, added some paint and oil pastel, still wasn’t sure, so put some water over the top of the water colour pencils I originally used. Basically, the finished result was a big smudged mess, but somehow I think it works. Gives the look of a diary entry smudged with tears, so I think I will just leave it be.

The body language of the girl is so wistful. I love the colors and the sihouette of the tree.

Bee, I made a comment to this before, but I don’t think it took.

I really like it…she looks to be lost in thought which is very appropriate!

This looks like it could have been an illustration from a LM Montgomery story…
“Isn’t it fortunate I’ve got such an imagination?” said Anne. “It will help me through splendidly, I expect. What do people who haven’t any imagination do when they break their bones, do you suppose, Marilla?”

The colors are perfectly balanced, the texture of her hair is almost touchable and the way she’s gazing off into space is so wistful. Very nice!

I like this, sitting against a tree to write her diary, so nice. The colours of the sky are lovely.

This makes me think of being a girl, hiding under the shrubs and trees in my backyard (my special spot for reflecting), and being alone with my thoughts. Wondering if there was a God, if there was such a thing as heaven, wondering what amazing thing I was supposed to do with my life, wondering if the butterflies stopped to think and wonder about me…
Thank you for sharing your beautiful images and for leaving the smudges. Life is full of them.

I’ve had days where my creative process is just like that! But it turned out beautifully and I never would have known you had such a tussle with it.
